Love Doesn’t Just Make the World Go Around…It Makes Us Healthier

With Valentine's Day 2021 right around the corner, it seems like an excellent time to talk about the health benefits of love.
Choose Love - 2021

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and we already see articles and memes about masked kisses and social distancing. Yes, it’s best to follow CDC guidelines. And we would never tell you to act irresponsibly during a pandemic or otherwise. Still, it seems like an excellent time to call your attention to the health benefits of choosing love.

We’re not talking strictly about romance, and we certainly aren’t talking about stressful, short-term romantic relationships. We’re talking about true love. Healthy relationships, whether with a significant other, family, or friends, can have a very positive impact on your immune system and your overall health.

Some psychology experts believe that love is a choice, not a feeling. Feelings are short-term, but going the long haul in any relationship is a choice. If you want to improve your life and health, we encourage you NOT to cancel love this year on Valentine’s Day or any other day.

Here are some LOVELY tips.

  1. Forgive and let go of the past.
  2. Don’t go to bed angry, even when you cannot resolve conflict. (LET IT GO!)
  3. Focus on the good and forgive the bad.
  4. Think about what you bring to your relationships rather than what you take.
  5. If you feel lonely, call a friend. They’re probably lonely too.
  6. Bear says…HUG A PET.

Just by making these simple changes, and they really are simple, you can reduce stress, lower your blood pressure, improve your immune system, help reduce pain levels, and much, much, more.
